Uniquely Inspiring Winter Wedding Ideas

Making the decision to wed the love of your life during the winter months was not hard at all. After all, a lot of people are now choosing to get married during those magical winter months. Finding the right theme or winter wedding ideas may not be so easy.

The theme of your wedding is everything. You can have the most beautiful dress and the finest food that money can buy, but without a good theme your wedding will not be memorable.

Deciding on a theme is not as hard as it may seem. You just have to consider that it is winter time and buy some winter wedding favors to go along with whatever theme you choose.

Finding the right theme

Finding the right wintertime theme is not as hard as you may think. You want something to make everyone take notice, but at the same time you need to love it too. There are several different themes that are popular with winter weddings.

  1. Holiday themes: A holiday wedding is the perfect winter theme. You can opt for a magical Christmas wedding with decorations that reflect the season or there is always an amazing New Year’s wedding where you can ring in the new year with your wedding nuptials. If you time it just right your first kiss as man and wife will be at the stroke of midnight. What a wonderful way of enjoying the holiday season. The great thing is that there are so many decorating themes to go with that can be centered around the holidays. You can do the Christmas decor with a tree and presents or you can do more of a New Year thing with lots of confetti and balloons.
  2. The first snowfall: It would be lovely to theme your entire wedding around the first snowfall. You can model your decor after snowfall and snowflakes and use glitter to make the room sparkle just like a fresh snowfall. It will be spectacular no matter how you choose to do it.
  3. Valentine’s Day: There is no way you could forget this day of love, and it serves as the perfect setting for your amazing love themed wedding. There are many people who choose to use this idea and with all of the hearts it just seems to fit.

Alternatives

For couples who would like to have a less than traditional winter wedding, a theme that is less than ordinary would be best. Having a ski resort wedding would be great with hot chocolate instead of punch and a ski chalet themed reception. The favors could all be themed with skis and snow and the guests could all wear ski clothes.

The great thing is there are many different alternative options to choose from. You can do a hockey theme, the winter Olympics, or even figure skating. Let your imagination loose and run with it.

Winter wedding ideas can be very diverse. There are a wide array of themes to choose from and if you are really adventurous you can create your own.

7 Ways to Plan a Low Cost Wedding

Getting married is a special time in anyone’s life. There are so many things to do to get the wedding planned however, and the costs just seem to double all the time. If you do not have a lot of money you might be thinking about just having a few friends and family members to your house for a small ceremony, but if you use the low cost wedding planning tips below, you can still have a dream wedding without the high prices.

  1. Low Cost Venues: The wedding venue you choose does not have to be expensive. You can find plenty of cheap places to have your wedding and some might even be free. You can plan to have your ceremony outdoors in a forest, park or garden and perhaps even at the beach. These places are cheap and sometimes you will find areas that you can use without charge.
  2. Affordable Gowns: Wedding dresses are every bride’s dream and if you want to get a princess one without the hefty price tag there are a few places you can look. Instead of just going to the store and buying a plain evening dress, you can look online. These wedding gowns are often quite cheap. Look for second hand ones in the classifieds, and you could also hire a dress.
  3. How to Afford the Flowers: Flowers are expensive so one simple way to afford them is to use silk flowers. These might work out cheaper depending on how many you need. You can also go for centerpieces that use something other than flowers and just opt for a single flower on each table with candles instead.
  4. Cheap Wedding Favors: If you want to get cheap wedding favors you can easily make them. This is far more personal and actually nicer than bought favors. You can make special poems, create little crafts, or make seed packets.
  5. Cutting Cake Costs: The cake is a huge part of the wedding, but also costs a lot of money. You can cut costs by having a small cake as the display and then a large plain sponge one for the guests to eat. You can also create the tiers with lots of mini cupcakes instead. You could get a friend or family member to make these.
  6. Meal on a Budget: The meal is by far the most costly part of any wedding. Even if you have a small wedding, this will take up the largest chunk of your budget. To get around this you can choose to have a morning or afternoon wedding where you can get away with serving snacks. You can also have a huge lamb spit for a beach wedding which is cheap.
  7. Cheap Decor Ideas: Finding decor items can be quite easy and will really help to lower the costs. You can borrow and hire items including candles, candle sticks, fabric, ribbon, and more.

With some creativity, you can still have your dream wedding without breaking your bank.

Setting Out Your Wedding Program

Most people put a lot of time into laying out their wedding program. It is an important factor that you certainly do not want to overlook. A wedding program is basically a schedule of all the things that are going to happen during your special day and the reception afterwards. It will also explain a number of other things to the guests, such as what they should expect from the ceremony. Making the programme clear will make sure that there is minimal risk of any confusion or unpleasant surprises.

When designing your wedding program, you should start out with a rough draft and not be afraid of reworking it several times to make sure that everything is included and it looks exactly how you want. Your plan should also be consistent and you need to take time to think it out carefully. If you are just starting out on planning your program, try making a brainstorm, draw some pictures and jot down a few notes. Just make sure that you do not miss anything important.

The wedding program is not just a list of the sequence of events. It is also a chance for you to explain some of your choices, such as why you have chosen a specific song or certain types of decorations. You may also include things such as a menu for the reception dinner or a list of the songs which you have chosen to play during main ceremony.

Some couples like to do a few different things as well with the wedding programs. You may want to add a poem or something similar, something that means something to you and is suitable for the situation. You should also use your wedding program as a place to express your thanks to your guests.

You should not skimp on the amount of time and care you take in structuring the program. The wedding program is a very important presentation with a number of practical purposes and should not be overlooked.

Different Wedding Reception Sites - Choosing Something Truly Unique

Wedding reception sites are normally located in a separate place to the ceremony itself, especially if the ceremony is held in a church. It is an entirely different matter to plan out and there are literally dozens of options out there. The most popular places where couples like to hold their wedding reception is in a stately home or an expensive hotel. There is no reason, however, why you shouldn’t try something a little bit different, perhaps something that better suits the style and theme of your wedding.

Some of the more popular places to hold wedding receptions include famous or historical places, which can provide a beautiful setting, especially for more traditional type weddings or fairy-tale type weddings. Choosing a stately home, a castle or perhaps a palace would definitely provide a very beautiful backdrop. Such places often arrange weddings so you will no doubt be spoilt for choice if this is the way you want to do it.

You might choose something a little more unique, such as having the reception on a boat. Why don’t you consider chartering a boat for the evening? You could have a romantic cruise or you can have a full-on party boat.

You could also try having a wedding reception by the water, such as on the beach or something like that. Perhaps you prefer to have it on a small island that you come to by boat. You can have the dinner in gazebos or marquees. Perhaps you might prefer to have a barbecue by the beach.

Regardless of the location for your wedding reception, there are still plenty of other factors you must not forget. The most important thing to make sure that everything is clearly outlined a wedding program. Make sure that the directions given are very clear so that all your guests know exactly how to get to the reception. The last thing you want is for people to get lost and miss out.

Making Your Wedding Special With Unique Wedding Ideas

The possibilities are literally limitless when it comes to planning your special wedding day and unique wedding ideas are aplenty. You might want to do something unique, something particularly memorable virtual definitely never forget. If it is not what you want, you should not feel restricted by tradition or anything else. While a traditional wedding is held in the church, you might want to try something different. It is entirely your choice and the limits are only brought about by your imagination.

You may want to make the ceremony particularly unique, or just the reception or perhaps the whole shebang. You might want to try something really outlandish. It is not unknown for people to have had weddings underwater even. On the other hand, you could try something a little less crazy such as a specific colour theme.

You will need some patience and do a lot of planning to make sure that everything goes smoothly. A unique wedding experience, by definition, is a departure from the norm and you will want to make sure that everything is detailed in your wedding program. You don’t want your guests having no idea what is going on and having no idea what to expect.

Perhaps you prefer to do something different, but not so outlandish. An increasing number of people are finding it preferable to have their weddings abroad. If you do want to have your wedding abroad however, you will need to consider how your guests are going to get there and you will need to adapt to the climate and any other factors involved.

Keep your ambitions sensible, but there is no reason why you shouldn’t stick to them. Just make sure that you have covered everything - you should leave plenty of time to plan everything. An unusual wedding can be a particularly memorable day for everyone involved, not just the bride and groom.

Wedding Plan - The First Steps To Take

Even if it is at the beginning, everything needs to have a plan of action - especially in the first stages. You have to be prepared from the start, about a minute after his proposal. We have made a list of steps that can be of great help for your wedding plan.

Dot every ‘i’ in ‘I DO’: Make sure that your boyfriend and you are on the same page in everything before calling your mother. Planning a wedding can make you and him be under a lot of stress during this period. Don’t get caught in the game and ask your fiance to sit and make a ’script’ of the ceremony and celebration. Make sure you get everything from aisle to arrival at your new home before doing anything else. If you find yourself doing all the work later on, at least you know where he stands. Remember it’s his wedding too. Respect his wishes at least once or twice!

Talk Money: Unfortunately we are not all princesses and we don’t all have rich daddies. Whip out your calculator and come up with a solid number. Be careful and be realistic. Avoid loans, credits, stretches and sales unless it’s necessary or you can afford it. Don’t EVER change this number unless you win the lottery, you or your boyfriend gets promoted, or your dad in fact produces a hefty check. Start your marriage with a happily not broke.

Make a head count: In order to be able to close your guest list, count in every possibility: every aunt, uncle and college friend in both sides; only after this start striking people out. Don’t spoil all your hard work and planning with last minute additions. Reserve a few extra seats for your family’s forgotten guests.

A place and time for everything: If you have a special date or place in mind, book them first but keep your eyes and mind open to other venues before doing so. You might be surprised by a new venue if you explore all your options. Also keep date flexible. You’ll be married forever after all.

Congratulations on getting married! These four steps will make this period of your time a blast!

Butterfly Wedding - Facts You Should Know About A Butterfly Wedding

Do you know what a butterfly wedding is? It’s a different type of wedding in which live butterflies are freed. Butterflies are used because there is a Native American myth that says your wish will be granted if you whisper it to a butterfly and let it go. It will take that wish to the Great Spirit, who will then grant your wish. Butterflies also represent renewal and beauty, and releasing beautiful butterflies will definitely make your wedding one to remember! No wonder butterfly weddings are getting more popular!

The preferred season for a butterfly wedding is in the spring. Butterfly weddings are also usually held in outside in gardens, which is great if you prefer that. If not, you might not want to make your wedding a butterfly wedding, or at least go outside to release them to keep with tradition and the legend. You want the butterflies to return to the outdoors, after all.

There are many web sites to get you started. You can find great butterfly wedding accessories like bridal tiaras, hair pins, and earrings all with a butterfly motif at bridalpeople.com. These great butterfly accessories will definitely get you noticed!

You can also find many beautiful butterfly decorations at balloons-galore.net. They have different butterfly candle holders, butterfly balloons, and butterfly ribbons for you to use in unlimited ways!

Of course, you also need sites that you can order butterflies from to release at the end of the wedding. The Monarch butterfly is one of the most commonly used butterflies at butterfly weddings, and one site you can order them from monarchbutterflywedding.com. Throwing rice is bad for birds who eat them, but releasing butterflies instead hurts no one. That’s certainly a nice bonus! Don’t hesitate: hold a butterfly wedding!

A Themed Wedding Is A Fun Way To Celebrate Your Wedding Nuptials!

You have recently become engaged, and once the excitement has subsided a little, the next step is to begin planning the wedding! You have a variety of different options available when it comes to organizing your wedding, but one way to make it particularly memorable for everyone involved is to have a theme wedding!

Holiday Weddings Make for Wonderful Theme Weddings
Say, for instance, that you and your fiancé simply love the holiday season, and Christmas most of all. Thus, why not celebrate both the holiday season and each other by having a Christmas wedding! It should be noted that you should probably not have the wedding ceremony on Christmas or Christmas Eve, since loved ones might have other plans.

So, it is a good idea to have your Christmas-themed wedding one or two weeks before Christmas. Now, the next step is thinking about a special way to arrive at the wedding. If, for instance, that time of the years is always snowy, consider arriving in a sleigh! The sleigh can be decorated with red and gold ribbons for a festive effect.

The same can be done for the wedding decorations. Christmas is a holiday that lends itself well to lgorgeous decorations, so it will certainly be easy to decorate the reception area for the themed wedding! For instance, if you are having the reception in one big room, get four Christmas trees, and place one in each corner. Decorate each of the trees with white wedding ornaments.

Another thing you will need to think about is how the bridesmaids and groomsmen should look. It is important that they should complement each other some way. One option to have the groomsmen wear red velvet vests under their black tuxedos and ties, and the bridesmaids wear red velvet dresses.

Naturally, you will have to consider the overall climate in your area, since velvet can tend to be very hot. Also, if there is not any snow on the ground, then you would have to rethink the sleigh idea. Therefore, you need to have a plan B available, and that can easily be done with the proper research.

For more information on themed weddings in general, begin by going to your local bookstore and getting various wedding planner magazines. These magazines will be very useful to you, as they can provide links to websites that you might not have found otherwise. So, have patience, and enjoy planning your wedding - a themed wedding that is sure to be memorable!

Banquet Themes: Bringing Your Banquet Together With The Perfect Theme

One can always procure a motivation for hosting a banquet. Regardless of whether you’re planning a reception, school formal, company event, anniversary or retirement party, you are sculpting a unique evening for a unique purpose. Since you wish that your party will be successful and that your guests will really enjoy themselves, uniting everything with a theme is ideal for using your decor and presentations to help achieve this.

Although you are somewhat limited because of your incident, you can still be creative when you create this evening’s theme. If you are looking for a theme or mood for a particular evening that you are entertaining use the seasons as your guide. While a banquet in December will almost always suggest a winter or Christmas theme, one in the early summer may have you leaning toward vacation or beach type of imagery and decorations.

It’s often a good move to put together a theme committee to take ideas and think though what would be a good theme that fits the purpose of the banquet and creates the right mood. There are a lot of options for a theme if the celebration is a seasonal part or prom. You can compose a theme based on colors or ideas related to functions where there is a particular aim to the banquet, events such as a wedding party or a corporate Christmas gathering, that can kindle creative sparks in your committee.

Brainstorming in a committee has its advantage, that is, you benefit from the different talents of the group. You have the practical minded people on the team who know what you can and cannot get away with thematically and what you can and cannot afford from a budget perspective. If the committee’s creative members are asked to come up with banquet themes to make a memorable event, you can eventually decide on a theme that’s exciting and at the same time, realistic.

Once you settle on a banquet theme in terms of a concept for the banquet, then you can put everyone to work to focus in on that theme. Once your theme is chosen, smaller commitees can handle the details for you. And if each person performs their task well, you will have a wonderful dinner that is sure to be remembered for my years to come by everyone who was there. Other suggested readings: Banquet Chairs

How to Plan a Wedding in Economic Recession

It is no doubt that wedding is one of the most important and memorable days of your life. Some couples save up lots of money to have the perfect wedding. Others want their weddings to be beautiful, but can’t or don’t want to wait until they have thousands and thousands of dollars saved up before they tie the knot. It may take a little extra work, but you can plan a nice wedding on a budget. Here are some tips.

Seek Help from Friends and Relatives

If you have a florist, caterer, or wedding planner in your family, she (or he) might be willing to cut you a break to help you save money. You might also be able to work out a payment plan so that you don’t have to come up with all of the money at once. And if she’s feeling especially generous, she might even give all or part of her services as a wedding gift.

It’s usually best not to just come out and ask for discounts or freebies. You could simply ask for pointers on how you might save money on your wedding, and give her the opportunity to make her own offers. Or, if she happens to ask what you could use for a wedding gift, you could casually mention that a great deal on wedding services would be the best gift possible.

Do It Yourself Wedding

There are plenty of things that you can do yourself to save money on your wedding. If you’re good at making attractive cakes, for example, you could make your own wedding cake. You could also do some or all of your floral arrangements and decorations if you’re good at that kind of thing.

Although some people tell you that wedding favors are not a necessary part in your wedding plan, it is a thoughtful way to show your appreciation for your guests’ attendance. In fact, you can find many cheap wedding favors which are priced under $1. If you are a crafty person, you can consider making your own wedding favors. Soaps, candles, cookies, chocolates or bookmarks would be a good choice to reflect your personality. However, it takes you more time and labor involved.

You could also do the planning yourself if you like. If you choose to do so, however, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get everything worked out. Rushing will just result in unnecessary stress, and that is the last thing you need.

Look for Deals

Shopping around can really pay off when you’re planning a wedding on a budget. While it’s good to get recommendations from those you trust, it’s also important to keep your options open when you’re trying to save money. Asking several people for suggestions will probably yield many different responses, giving you several service providers to consider.

Price is an important consideration when you have limited funds, but it’s also important to get good service. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and to request references. If you’re not getting what you pay for, it’s not a good deal.

Remember, no wedding is perfect and you can’t make everyone happy. Doing something good for your future, not just for one day. With a little extra work and creativity, you can still have a wonderful wedding day!

Top Tips for Selecting and Accessorizing Linen Chair Cover Rentals

Linen Chair Cover Rentals can play an important design element of any formal function. For weddings, the table and chair size adds the perfect guest comfort touch to the wedding reception. For parties, chairs can add that extra touch and clean feel to create a more high-end atmosphere. event planners often oversee, but can bring the visual appeal of your event to that next level.

Accessories are a great way to take chair cover rentals even one step further. The accessories can be flowers (both real and fake), ribbons, bows, or any combination of the three. Additional linen enhancers are generally tied in a band around the chair to add an extra visual to the style linen color set. While there are multiple reasons to use accessories with your chair covers, there are four main reasons to do so .

Tie In Color With Chair Cover Rentals

Accessories are the easiest way to tie in the colors of your event to the chairs. While you can choose change the color of the entire chair cover completely, using a colored linen accessory is the best way to add a hint of color. By using the accessories to enhance colors, you are tying the chairs into the overall design; this adds an extra dimension to the color set up, making it more elegant and beautiful .

For others, each table is essentially the same. Using different accessories (and colors of accessories) per table is a great way to designate special tables. This is particularly the norm at weddings so with your wedding linens selection, the sky is the limit. A head table will stand out when it is a different color, chair covers and all.

Tie in the Table

If a tablecloth is burgundy, and the napkins are the same color, it then makes visual sense to have a complimentary chair cover. Using the same color with an accessory on the chair cover rentals allows you to tie in the entire table and chairs. The accessory can be small, but the impact that it has on the visual appeal of the table and setting can be profound .

Do Not be Afraid to Be Modern With Wedding Linen Rentals

High quality wedding linen rentals allow you to accessorize chair covers by experimenting with modern designs. Today, there are more choices than ever, so if you are planning a reception, it is perfectly fine to get creative. Adding colors, flowers, and other accessories with your chair covers is something that is considered more progressive than traditional. This modern and unique touch allows you to add something special to your design. Everyone is searching for a way to be remembered; having a modern wedding design is a terrific way to do that.

Using accessories with your chair cover rentals allows you to take the style of your chair covers to the next level. In the end, chair cover accessories allow you to be modern while still being classic, giving you a beautiful style for your event.

Finding A Professional Wedding Photographer Who Is Right For Your Needs

Finding a professional wedding photographer takes a lot of work. While not quite as much work as putting the whole wedding together, you want to make sure that you have the right professional for the job. Finding wedding photography packages doesn’t need to be difficult, either. If you have a good plan and ask the right questions, you should be able to find the perfect wedding photography studio for your special moments.

You may well never have hired a professional photographer before. Therefore, it can be difficult to know what questions to ask. Yet it is crucial that you conduct a careful interview process in order to find the best professional wedding photographer for your needs. Here is a short list of important questions that apply to all circumstances. You may have additional questions based on your individual needs.

1. Will you be the actual photographer for my wedding?
It would make sense that the person you are interviewing is the professional wedding photographer. However, some companies employ a sales staff that is good at closing deals. A scrupulous salesperson will let you know what his or her role is in the company. Unfortunately, not every wedding photography studio is reputable. The salesperson might not let it slip that he or she is not actually a photographer unless you ask.

Alternatively, the person with whom you speak may be the company owner. He or she may employ a staff of trusted photographers in whom he or she has complete confidence. Nevertheless, if the person you interview will not be your actual photographer, you may want to speak to that person as well.

2. May I see your portfolio?
The only way you’re going to see if a specific professional wedding photographer is for you is to view their portfolio. A portfolio is a compilation of the photographer’s or the wedding photography studio’s best work. Viewing a photographer’s work will give you a clear idea of style and expertise and whether the professional is the right person for you.

3. What is your experience with my preferred style of photography?
Engaged couples today have more choices than ever before. Digital photography is increasingly common and photojournalistic wedding photography has become a hot new trend. If you want something other than traditional posed photography on film, make sure that you choose a professional wedding photographer who is experienced in the style that you desire.

4. What possible additional fees might I incur?
Travel fees, hourly fees if your wedding runs long, setup fees and fees for additional rolls of film are all fairly common but not necessarily standard. While price should not be your only consideration, try to find a photographer flexible and willing to work with you should unexpected circumstances arise. Also, inquire about charges for converting photos to black and white or sepia tones, digitizing film photos and printing out digital photos. Some wedding photography packages cover some or all of these fees, so inquire about package rates.

5. May I have a list of references from previous wedding clients?
No matter how good a photographer’s pictures are, it is also important that you click with his or her personality. The interview will give you a basic idea of personality, but remember that a wedding is stressful for everyone involved. Speak with former clients to learn how the photographer behaves under the real life pressure of the wedding.

Your wedding day is special. Your professional wedding photographer should capture the care that you put into planning the details accurately and beautifully. Take the time to shop around and select the best wedding photographer for you.

Lack of preparation is one of the most common mistakes people make when writing their speeches. If you’re not exactly used to public speaking, as soon as you have a general idea as to what you’ll say start practicing in front of the mirror and then ask a few friends and family to serve as your practice audience. It’s perfectly acceptable to have a few notes neatly printed on a few small index cards that you can refer to if your nerves get the best of you and you forget the next line.

Starting on your speech early will also allow you to work on your pace and how to keep the tone and volume of your voice even and at a level everyone will be able to hear. Few things are more irritating than being at a wedding and being completely unable to hear a word that’s being said. By saying your speech aloud, you’ll also be able to see that it flows well and will make sense to all of the guests present and not just the couple getting married.

Not Too Long, Not Too Short

As far as the length of the speech is concerned, you certainly don’t want to be too brief and you definitely don’t want to put guests to sleep either. The trick is finding a happy medium that will allow you to convey your feelings, pay tribute to the couple, and sound sincere while keeping things interesting.

Speeches that are too long tend to sound insincere, not to mention incredibly boring, and will distract from the true meaning of the occasion, while those that are too short or filled with pauses and stammers may be misconstrued as equally insincere. If you are nervous about giving the speech, remember that everyone there will be related or friends with each other or know one another in some way, all with one common bond of caring for the marrying couple and sharing in their day.

End With a Toast

Allow time in your speech to end with a toast by raising your glass and asking guests to join in with you in toasting the happy couple, wishing them all of the best for their future together. If the couple shares a religious or ethnic heritage, you may want to incorporate something about that into your toast or speech.

Then, simply thank the guests for coming and sharing this special day with the couple, and if you’re in the bridal party you can also thank the bride and groom for asking you to be involved. Finally, close your speech by telling everyone to have a wonderful time at the wedding.

Decorating Ideas for a Bountiful Fall Wedding

Fall is an absolutely wonderful time of year for so many reasons and more and more couples are realizing this and planning their nuptials during the autumn months. One of the very best things about an autumn themed wedding is how easy it is to plan and decorate for one using the many fall related items available today.

Fall Color Schemes

There is no other time of the year that has quite the variety of so many vibrant colors as the fall, which gives brides-to-be a myriad of options and combinations to choose from when decorating for their weddings during this beautiful season of change.

Orange and all of its many pretty shades and hues is definitely a main color to consider for a fall wedding, and there are also many complementary colors to add along with it. You don’t have to be getting married on or near Halloween, or worry that your wedding decorations will look as if you are, if you’d like to use orange as your primary decorating color. Peach and pumpkin work with most colors, especially varying hues of green, yellow, brown, wine, and burgundy.

Apple red is also a wonderful color to use for fall wedding decorations, especially for nuptials taking place in early to mid fall when the tree’s colorful leaves are at their brightest. This shade of red is also perfect for events ranging from the elegant, romantic and classy to the understated or country themed wedding depending on the decorations and accent colors used.

In addition to the many earth tones used as primary shades, including off-white, beige, cream, champagne, tan, wheat, caramel, taupe, mocha, and chocolate, metallic colors, particularly bronze, gold, and deep copper are all excellent for using as accent colors to lend an air of elegance to the decorations.

Fall Centerpieces

Scatter faux leaves, preferably those made from a silk or nylon type of material so they’ll lie flat, all around the guest’s tables, or concentrate them around each place setting, or in the middle of the tables around the centerpieces. Craft stores and dollar stores alike should have plenty of fall leaves, both loose and attached to garlands and vines, usually starting around late summer at incredibly low prices.

Ordinary wicker baskets in any shape or size can be used to create fall centerpieces by embellishing them with things like ribbon or raffia and then filled with either real or faux fruits, acorns, nuts, Indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, leaves, or fall flowers. In the corners of the room, or on the floor in front of the head table, bales of hay can serve as great plant holders for pots of colorful chrysanthemums that could also be given to special guests along with the centerpieces.

Fall Wedding Favors

The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to finding or making your own fall wedding favors. Besides the many leaf shaped favors to choose from, including everything from candle holders to coasters, to bottle or letter openers to picture frames and key chains, consider decorative bottles filled with apple cider or maple syrup, or personalized coffee mugs or small pots of flowers.

Decorating and preparing for a fall wedding isn’t all about visual appeal either as involving the sense of smell will really heighten the mood of the day. Light candles scented with pumpkin, apple, caramel, or ginger spice and place them on each of the tables, and fill a few bowls with fall themed potpourri as well.

Your Green Wedding: How to Plan an Eco-Friendly Celebration

Today, environmentally conscious couples are making great strides in reducing their impact, or “carbon footprint” as it’s often called, on the planet by having green weddings. Donate and recycle are two words to keep in the forefront of your mind when planning your own green wedding, and by using a little creativity, you can have a beautiful wedding that’s style conscious as well as eco-friendly.

Green Alternatives to Wedding Flowers

One trend that’s rapidly gaining in popularity is completely flower-free bouquets for the bride as well as the bridesmaids. Use decorative fans or tiny purses embellished with jewels and fabrics for the maids to carry down the aisle. If you can’t find something suitable for your wedding’s theme or your personal tastes, opt for faux flowers to create bouquets that will be lasting and cherished keepsakes for the members of your bridal party.

Green Wedding Invitations

While it’s true wedding invitations do need to contain a lot of pertinent information for guests, there are still many ways of minimizing the amount of paper used. Instead of using a different card for each thing, combine the details on one sheet of paper, or better yet, set up a website where guests can log on and view all of the details, just be sure to remember those people who won’t have internet access.

For the bachelorette party or the rehearsal dinner, use online invitations whenever possible, and, when printing your own wedding invitations, choose vegetable or soy based inks, or find a commercial printer who uses them, and always use recycled paper.

Green Wedding Receptions

Choosing a site for your reception is one of the very most important aspects of planning the entire wedding, and even more so when having an eco-friendly celebration. Two ideas for considering are choosing a site that will either benefit from your wedding in some way, or one that is located out of doors. For the former, places such as historic homes or estates, museums and art galleries will greatly benefit from the fee paid to use their site.

Or, if you want to have an outdoor event, botanical and organic gardens, arboretums or even on the grounds of one of those historic estates would serve as a wonderful backdrop.

Light soy candles at the reception instead of the regular kind and you’ll not only be saving energy but you’ll be using a renewable resource that burns for far longer and doesn’t create the usual waxy mess. Also, candlelight is a must have for weddings as it’s romantic and sets the mood for the day perfectly and soy candles are now available in just about every color, size, shape, style, and scent that you could think of.

Bamboo is the perfect medium to use for decorating for a green wedding as this particular type of plant life is perhaps one of the most sustainable materials known to man on earth today. In a short three to seven years, most species of bamboo will be completely mature, as opposed to the whopping 120 years it takes for an oak tree to reach the same maturity.

Bamboo can be used in the centerpieces as well as for the placemats, and what better eco-friendly wedding favors to pass out to your guests than miniature stalks of lucky bamboo placed in pretty, decorative containers?
